Why D33?

Built around our mission, D33 was formed to create a way to provide convenient, comprehensive nutrition to dogs.

With a belief that there's a lack of transparency within the pet nutrition space, we set out to bring a product that was simple for dog owners to understand, easy to feed and something that their dogs loved to eat. Trying to trick your dog into taking capsules or hiding it within treats didn't sit right with us.

Pet nutrition is a long way behind human nutrition, but many of the same learnings can be applied. After years of studying all the latest research, we decided that creating a product that contained a blend of many different whole food ingredients would be extremely beneficial to dogs (and therefore humans too) in the long run.

We strongly believe that whole foods have a huge advantage when it comes to bioavailability and absorption. We utilise the latest emerging evidence & research, often from forward thinking veterinarians, nutritionists, researchers and scientists globally.

This is why we created D33.

Why Whole Foods?

D33 is driven by science and whole food nutrition emphasises minimally processed, natural ingredients (typically in powdered form) as sources of vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds for dogs.

Unlike synthetic isolates or highly processed foods, whole foods provide nutrients in their natural matrices, complete with co-factors that aid absorption and utilization.

We believe that dogs evolved to digest nutrients from whole prey and plant materials, so their bodies may recognize and metabolize nutrients from whole foods more efficiently than synthetic additives.

Superfoods are Mother Nature’s most potent, concentrated and nutrient-rich foods that contain high concentrations of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and essential fatty acids.

We strongly believe in a preventative approach by minimising the toxins consumed and maximising whole super foods to enhance a dog's health.

Using the latest global science and research studies we have put together a product that is simple at its core. We strive to refine our product and improve it over time, building on the 33 core ingredients that the business began with.

We set out to create a very simple daily routine that provides general wellness at every stage of a dogs life. We weren't designed for quick wins.

D33 remains our core product and will evolve over time, and as it does we'll continue to share our latest learnings and improvements with you.

We evaluate our suppliers stringently, ensuring food safety and traceability of products from BRC/FSSC 22000 certified manufacturing companies. They provide us with products and services according to agreed specifications of high-quality goods that will meet our customer expectations compliant to food regulatory requirements.

We only use single, whole ingredients. That means no additives, no fillers, and nothing artificial. Just the good stuff, exactly as it should be.

We put a lot of care into finding the best ingredients. We check the detail from nutritional quality to taste, texture and appearance and we’re always exploring new options to make sure we’re offering the very best.

We believe whole, species appropriate nutrition is a right every dog deserves

Dogs don't have a choice in what they consume like humans do. In addition to clean and quality drinking water, we are convinced that all dogs would benefit from a varied diet.

If a dog is absorbing the right blend of nutrition, that doesn't include harmful additives, preservatives, artificial flavours, texturisers or palatants that puts a strain on the digestive system, then they'll live a more fulfilled life, possibly for longer.

Our approach can be summarised by the saying "food is medicine" and in this case "whole food". Our approach is more preventative and can be summarised by splitting what a dog consumes into either a useful super food or a "toxin".

Our Ingredients

  • Whole Foods vs. Synthetic and Processed Alternatives

    Conventional dog foods (especially kibble) rely on synthetic vitamins and minerals to meet “complete and balanced” nutrient requirements. This is largely because the intense processing of pet food - high pressure cooking, extrusion, and long shelf storage—destroys many natural nutrients, necessitating that they be added back in artificially.

  • Bioavailability and Absorption Advantages

    Emerging evidence suggests that nutrients from whole foods can be more bioavailable and gentler on the body’s metabolism than synthetic forms. One reason is that in whole foods, vitamins and minerals
    are accompanied by natural co-factors (other vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc.) that facilitate their digestion and assimilation.

  • Evidence & Studies

    A growing body of independent research (much of it outside of large pet food industry funding) is exploring the benefits of specific whole-food ingredients for dogs & we aim to bring that evidence to the industry and our customers as it is made available.
